Very bad experience. I waited for more than one hour and did not receive any medical solution. I have a serious allergic reaction caused by insect bites (unknown insect) and I went looking for help and a prescription for a medication I could afford. They did not give me a clear diagnosis, no treatment at all, and simply told me to go to Kotor. I needed a solution immediately because I am still suffering from an active allergic reaction. After such a long wait, not providing any help or basic treatment is unacceptable. Very poor patient care and lack of responsibility.

This was a horrible experience from us who lives in Montenegro as a foreigner and try to get some help from the hospital! When we went there with my wife nobody is taking care of us, doesn’t even listen and doesn’t even look at our face! There is a lady called “buna” she was yelling at the phone to someone sitting at the help desk but doesn’t help anybody. There is another lady nearby her and she doesn’t listen to us because she is also busy with arguing this lady buba!! this is really Katastrofa!

If you are feeling unwell as a tourist, skip this hell hole and go straight to the private clinic; I was almost charged 32 euros for a general doctor check-up who would then send me to a specialist for even more money, meanwhile I had my whole problem fixed at a private clinic for 30 euros...

This is the only hospital there! But at the emergency “Opšta Praxa” nobody is taking care of you they don’t even look at your face! There is a woman called “Buba” when we and more patients are waiting there she was shouting and yelling on …

All praise to the emergency team for their kindness, calmness, empathy and humanity. That is the team that came to my mother last night, 12/2 2026. Thank you from the heart 🙏🤗 …

They treated me terribly for not speaking Montenegrin and for not being a local — they didn’t even attend to me because they wouldn’t communicate with me. I suggest you avoid the bad experience and go to a (private) clinic.

As a citizen of Tivat (and I have lived in many municipalities of Montenegro), I can rightly say that this is the WORST healthcare institution in our country and beyond. It’s hard to tell who is worse — the doctors (when they’re there, which is rarely) or the medical staff (with respect to the exceptions — there are some kind ones). Every month, when I was pregnant, they sent me home with “you have to come to your chosen doctor” — for a simple biochemistry referral so I could do the monthly tests for my gynecologist that I do every month to monitor my condition during pregnancy. When I’d come during my chosen doctor’s shift, he wasn’t there anyway, and some other doctor or a substitute would, to my shame, force me to be seen (pure abuse and abuse of power over people). I also asked for a multi-purpose biochemistry referral — the doctor who saw me said “can’t be done” — short and clear. Then I got sick — a cold from which I lost my sense of smell. Of course, my gynecologist told me to go to my health center and ask for a COVID test, because in the 9th month of pregnancy it’s not trivial to maybe have COVID. The doctor who saw me literally threw me out of the office with the words, I quote: “I won’t give you a referral for a COVID test because you’re not an emergency, go do it privately at Moj Lab.” In the 9th month of pregnancy? With fever, a terrible cough, and no sense of smell??? Was she joking? O.o I think it would be more honest to burn this medical institution down, or at least lock the doors, if the management has no intention of finding responsible and honorable doctors and medical staff who won’t make people who come for help feel mentally and physically worse, but actually do what they’re there for — help. And staff who won’t take out their frustrations and dissatisfaction with their private lives on the sick. Rudeness and indifference reign here, and the deceased in the morgues get better treatment. Shame on the town.

Do NOT go there if you don’t have boravak. They screw you on medical fees! I paid for a gynaecologist visit in June 2023 17€ (consultation, checkup, ultrasound and sampling). Where is now in September 2023 they charged me 97€ calculating each procedure on 20 min appointment separately! There were no public announcements about price change as well as publicly posted price list. I asked to take a photo of the price and the nurse/admin said no, she was rude and turned upside down the sheet of paper she used. I’ve been in several medical centers in Montenegro and never paid more then 20-30€ for a doctor visit (inc ultrasound) in a commercial clinic even if it lasted 40 min. In Codra gynaecologist consultation and ultrasound are part of the same visit with fixed price 20€! It’s insane prices and charging methods in Dom Zdravlja for a government hospital! Shame on them!

We came to the hospital emergency, we’ve been waiting for the doctor for three hours. The doctor came and they’re treating patients in this blue container they put in front of the hospital — only 3 people managed to get inside in an hour. Looks like they’ll see the patients only once they die.

You can do a free PCR test here. Schedule: Mon–Fri, 7:00–9:00. Better to come earlier; the number of tests is limited. With you, bring: - a copy of your passport - a copy (or original) of the tourist tax payment, the city doesn’t matter. We had Kotor. If you don’t know what tourist tax is, ask your apartment owner or check Google. The entrance is to the right of the building, by the parking lot. In the morning you’ll see the line. Result: same day after 18:00, or next day from 9:00. If there were many tests they might not make it and you’ll have to wait until 20:00. The clinic is open until 21:00. Hope the info helps.
